The Summer Solstice Festival North Drone Show was flown on Manitoulin Island in 2021, while the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was held in Sault Ste. Marie in 2022.

FEAST

Indigenous Tourism Ontario has prepared Feast: Growing Indigenous Food Tourism in Ontario, a strategy to guide Indigenous food tourism development in Ontario.

IBA Workshops

Indigenous Tourism Ontario (ITO)’s Indigenous Business Advisors (IBA) Program will assist Indigenous tourism businesses throughout the province to improve sustainability and resiliency and encourage success within their operations.

Indigenous Ingenuity

The Indigenous Ingenuity Northern Tour is a project that ITO and Science North collaborated on that began in 2022 and will continue until the end of 2024.

PATHS Program

Canadian Ecotourism Services (CES) has partnered with ITO to create the PATHS Tourism Builder, a business planning tool that takes a deep dive into your business and isolates four major directions that help your business run more effectively.

Skode

Skode is a dragon's den-style tourism innovation contest hosted by ITO in partnership with the Tourism Innovation Lab.

TRF Funding Program

In 2022, Fed Dev and Fed Nor provided business funding totalling $3 million dollars to 34 Ontario Indigenous Tourism Operators to develop programming and encourage product development, infrastructure enhancement, capacity and physical expansions, workforce development and digital enhancements.

Virtual Reality

Indigenous Tourism Ontario relies on Immersive Technology such as Virtual Reality to engage consumers globally by showcasing Indigenous tourism opportunities remotely.
