In these unprecedented and uncertain times, the ITO team wants to say Miigwetch!
Miigwetch for being a business owner and for allowing us to help you and your business. We have been working diligently since 2008 to ensure Ontario Indigenous tourism businesses have a Provincial and National voice and we appreciate having your business as a member. Ontario is home to the largest Indigenous tourism industry in Canada with 588+ Indigenous tourism businesses contributing over $688 Million to the GDP while creating 12,000+ jobs.
Although we are in challenging times, Indigenous tourism has made huge strides in the last 17 years I have been in the industry; especially in the last 3 years. Demand for Indigenous tourism experiences is higher than it’s ever been. ITO is working very strategically to maintain our collective pre-pandemic momentum.
As such, we are dedicating ourselves to work on the following activities;
  1. Support for businesses during the “Rescue” phase: Spring/Summer/Fall of 2020
  2. Support for businesses during the “Recovery” phase: Fall/Winter of 2020/21
  3. Support for businesses during the “Resurgence” phase: Winter/Spring/Summer of 2021
As the time is now to begin planning for 2021 and beyond, we are also working on a Post Pandemic ITO Strategic and COVID-19 Recovery Plan to help the collective Indigenous tourism industry.
Should you wish to discuss how you can become more involved in ITO, our trail blazing initiatives, or anything really,  please feel free to reach out to me directly at any time by email at keshkawkogan@indigenoustourismontario.ca and we can set up a time to chat.
