The Circle of Turtle Lodge

February 23rd, 2023 | Sharing Circle

The Circle of Turtle Lodge is a non-profit charitable organization who are committed to promoting and revitalizing Indigenous culture through tradition, language and ceremony. The Circle has been reviving, promoting, and restoring Traditional Anishinabe Culture in the Ottawa Valley since 1999 and is open to people of all Nations, regardless of status.

Their Tourism Relief funds went to the renovation of a storefront in the Pembroke Mall to provide Indigenous people in the community a safe space to gather to celebrate Indigenous cultures and traditions, as well as teach non-Indigenous people about the culture. It has been overwhelmingly successful since its opening in July 2022 and has even provided workshops to the Ottawa Valley Tourism Association.

An Indigenous Hub Gathering Spot To Educate the Public Cultural Workshops/Training Crafting and Social Enterprise (Sales) Aimee is experienced in applying for grants and said ITO’s TRF process was significantly easier than a typical government application. Aimee had no problems making the Dec 31 deadline as she was already well into the storefront project when she applied.
