The Carter House

Jason Thibault, Co-Owner of The Carter House, with wife Kelly Thibault. We are a Bed and Breakfast located in the heart of Kagawong, Manitoulin Island. Our funding has allowed us to purchase four teepees that we will put in the back of our bed and breakfast business, which is located at 77 Main Street, Kagawong ON. Our long-term marketing goal is to invite Indigenous Entrepreneurs to this area and encourage commerce and economic development. We want to use the corner to celebrate reconciliation, and have people educate others as well as sell wares, handmade products, foods and beverages.

Every summer the village of Kagawong receives 5-10,000 visitors per week. The Carter House bed and breakfast is situated in a fabulous location, and by doubling our guest room capacity with the addition of the teepees, as well as the addition of the marketplace on our spacious property, we believe we are on the cusp of great things! Each teepee will have a name – Whitetail Eagle, Wolf and Salmon – and the beautiful design of these structures will add colour, variety and excitement to the Kagawong downtown core.
