It was a rocky road for the Equestrian centre during the pandemic. Terry and her husband used up most of their retirement savings keeping the farm operational. It was with the help of ITO that they transitioned from a typical riding centre and into equestrian tourism. This includes many non riding attractions, such as a petting farm, spirit horse and indigenous knowledge events, and Equine Assisted Learning Courses. Their TRF funds went to further bolster their tourism offerings, by way of the development of an outdoor arena, buy back horses they were forced to sell during the pandemic, winterized their guest cabin, and bought a new evaporator for their sugar shack.

Stadium lighting and bleachers were purchased for the outdoor arena. This gives them the ability to host riding competitions, powwows, educational programs, and other events. Winterizing their guest cabin is giving TJ Stables an opportunity to extend their season into the shoulder months. ITO and the TRF gave them the ability to start looking towards a brighter future and has given them the momentum to expand their business into experiential tourism and develop new packages and programs. Tourism has opened them up to a much broader market. They are doing better than ever and have become a hit with international tourists.
